Bengaluru is famous for many things, from its nightlife to its temperate weather and the beautiful parks that residents can enjoy. But the city’s fashion sense does not come up often as a topic of discussion.
However, a woman’s post about a comparison between the fashion scene in India’s Silicon Valley and Bandra has struck a chord with many X users. The woman, in her post, claimed that Bengaluru residents “really don’t dress hot”, pointing out the stark contrast the city presents to one of Mumbai’s posh areas.
In her post, the woman claimed that every other person in Bandra was “super fit”. For her, Bengaluru was miles behind in this respect. The comment sparked a lot of discussion on X.
Woman Compares Bengaluru And Bandra
The account wrote, “No offence to blr but people really don’t dress hot around here, it’s such a stark contrast to bandra where every other person is super fit & wears a cute outfit & just has insane aura.”

How Did X Users React?
The post led many users to compare the two areas. Some cited climate as a reason for the difference in fashion choices. One user wrote, “Comparing Bandra to the entire Bengaluru is unfair. In general, Mumbai people dress pretty basic because comfort is a priority in the humidity for us. hotness and fitness, maybe. Delhi does a better job at fashion than most cities in terms of layering, etc.”
Another claimed that one of the best things about Bengaluru was that people were not judged on their choice of clothes. “People are not performative in Bangalore & love to be their authentic self, cause nobody is judging anyone else until now.”
Some users found the comparison between Bandra and Bengaluru unfair. “That’s not even a fair comparison to start with like Bengaluru being a city and Bandra being a part of Mumbai, and observation of every other person is a super fit and wears a cute outfit in Bandra is so wrong,” an account remarked.
Another pointed out, “I mean, isn’t it obvious why? Mumbai is where the film industry is, and Bengaluru is where tech is.”
“Bandra is generational wealth suckers, Bengaluru is generational wealth creators,” an account posted.
For some people, Delhi was where the main style inspiration was. “Every day is a high couture show at Delhi metro yellow line,” a comment read.
The debate shows how people associate different attributes with different cities, something that can boil down to clothing choices as well. For users, clothing choices were not just determined by the weather but also by how they see the city.
As many individuals pointed out in the comments, for them, Bengaluru is a city where things get done, and residents are busy making money with little time for fashion trends. Mumbai, on the other hand, represents glamour due to the city being the centre of the Hindi film industry.
