New SIM Rule in India: The Indian government is going strong on the SIM card rules which means now there is a limit to how many SIM cards can be issued in your name. Previously we have seen telcos dishing
out SIM cards without any limits but now there is a number at which the companies will stop giving you a new SIM connection.
The new SIM rule comes into effect from August 24 so there is still time but in case you want to check how many SIMs are issued in your name, the government has an easy way of letting you do that.
Too Many SIM Cards On Your Name: Check Here For Details
The Sanchar Saathi app or website is run by the government and it can be the hub for you to check the SIM details with your mobile number attached.
There was a time when Airtel, Jio and Vodafone (Vi) were allowed to issue up to 9 SIM cards to one person but the new DoT SIM rule changes that from next week. Follow these steps to check the active SIM connections on your name with Sanchar Saathi
- Open the Sanchar Saathi app on your phone or website
- Click on the ‘Know your mobile connections’ option
- Give your mobile number and type the write CAPTCHA verification code
- Your number will receive an OTP, enter that to authorise the login
You will now see all the connections and list of mobile numbers that have been issued. In case you find any number out of the place or not issued by you, the app lets you report for such numbers, or even flag whether you require it or not.
Follow the same process with the Sanchar Saathi app on Android or iOS devices and get the details before you decide to get a new SIM. Telcos have been asked to update their systems to include a photo ID-based database that will alert them when a person has too many SIM cards issued on their name.
Why The New SIM Rule For India?
The new SIM rule changes coming from August 24 are claimed to be introduced to help thwart possible frauds and also stopping people from issuing SIM cards with another person’s Aadhaar or details.
