Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have asked their supporters to celebrate the IPL 2026 victory ‘responsibly’ at home. RCB beat the Gujarat Titans by five wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad
to secure a second consecutive title, becoming only the third team to do so.
The statement was directed at what happened in the IPL 2025 season. RCB beat Punjab Kings at the same ground to lift their first-ever title, and Bangaloreans thronged the streets in celebration. The players called them up for a parade the following day, and RCB’s social media activity promoted that, too, and it ended in a devastating stampede, brutally ending the lives of 11 fans outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.
“What a night. What a feeling. 🥹 To every member of the RCB nation, congratulations. This is YOUR win. 🏆❤️ As the celebrations begin, let’s be responsible. 🙌 Best way to celebrate is with your loved ones. Relive the memories, and enjoy this special moment from the comfort of home. 🏠❤️ We’ll see you in the stadium next year, 12th Man Army. Until then, spread the joy and keep supporting us . 🤗🫶” the team said on social media.

Asked to bat first on a sluggish surface, GT never found momentum after losing captain Shubman Gill and B Sai Sudharsan inside the PowerPlay. Jos Buttler and Washington Sundar attempted to rebuild, but RCB’s disciplined attack, led by Josh Hazlewood, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Rasikh Salam Dhar, kept scoring in check. Sundar’s unbeaten 50 off 37 balls was the lone substantial contribution as Gujarat limped to 155/8.
RCB’s chase began aggressively, with Virat Kohli and Venkatesh Iyer adding 62 runs in just 4.3 overs while taking apart Kagiso Rabada. Although GT fought back through the wickets of Venkatesh, Devdutt Padikkal, Rajat Patidar, and Krunal Pandya, reducing RCB to 91 for 4, Kohli remained unfazed. He reached his quickest IPL half-century, off only 25 balls, and found support from Tim David’s brisk 24.
Kohli sealed the chase with a six off Arshad Khan, finishing unbeaten on 75 from 42 balls and sparking jubilant celebrations. As expected, no player mentioned a parade or celebrating with the fans in the post-match interviews.
