Jaipur, May 13 (PTI) Intense heatwave conditions refused to relent across several parts of Rajasthan with maximum temperatures staying close to the mid-forties.
Phalodi was recorded as the hottest place
in the state with the mercury settling at 46.8 degrees Celsius.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma reviewed the situation in a meeting and directed officials to ensure uninterrupted supply of water and electricity during the summer season.
The maximum temperature remained above 40 degrees Celsius in most districts, according to the meteorological department.
Among other major cities, Jaisalmer recorded 46.1 degrees Celsius, followed by Chittorgarh at 45.8 degrees Celsius, Barmer and Bikaner at 45.2 degrees Celsius each.
Kota recorded 44.8 degrees Celsius, while Jodhpur registered 44.7 degrees and Sri Ganganagar 44.4 degrees.
The state capital Jaipur recorded a maximum temperature of 43.8 degrees Celsius.
Ajmer registered 43.1 degrees Celsius, Bhilwara 43 degrees, Sikar 42 degrees and Churu 40.2 degrees, according to the weather office.
The Meteorological Centre in Jaipur warned that severe heatwave and warm night conditions were very likely in parts of Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions over the next four to five days.
In the south-eastern districts as well, maximum temperatures are likely to remain between 44 and 45 degrees Celsius, with isolated heatwave and warm night conditions expected, the department said.
It also forecast thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph and light drizzle at isolated places in Bikaner division, Shekhawati region, Jaipur and northern parts of Bharatpur division during the next two days. PTI SDA PRK
