Arjun Tendulkar is set to relaunch his IPL career after spending two seasons with five-time champions Mumbai Indians. During his stint there, he played five matches, took three wickets, and scored 13 runs
in the only innings he batted. Ahead of last season’s IPL mini-auction, Arjun was acquired by the Lucknow Super Giants at his base price of Rs 30 lakh for the season that began last week.
The 26-year-old, primarily a left-arm pacer, will be aiming for more opportunities with his new team, captained by India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant. Recently, the franchise shared a clip of the two chatting during a warm-up session, with Pant visibly impressed by Arjun‘s enthusiasm and the weight of his bat.
Arjun, son of legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar, recently got married but quickly returned to professional cricket, also training alongside Yuvraj Singh.
Arjun, who represents Goa in the Indian domestic circuit, has claimed 35 wickets from 29 T20 matches at an economy rate of 8.58.
LSG will begin their IPL campaign on Wednesday when they host the Delhi Capitals at the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.
Yograj Lashes Out At Ashwin
Recently, India spin legend Ravichandran Ashwin expressed doubts about Arjun’s chances of playing for LSG, citing the competition in the squad.
“Arjun Tendulkar khelega hi nahi (Arjun Tendulkar won’t play at all), and let’s not even go there. I think it is very difficult because there are Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Avesh Khan, and Mohammad Shami in this lineup. There are so many fast bowlers. How will he play? I don’t think he makes any case unless there are a lot of injuries,” Ashwin said on his YouTube channel.
However, former India cricketer Yograj took exception to Ashwin’s comments.
“He is talking b*******. This guy Ashwin, whoever he is, should know what to talk about. Somebody sitting on television saying, ‘Oh, he can’t do this, he can’t do that. Arey, tum kya ho bhai?” Yograj said on InsideSport.
