US President Donald Trump renewed his endorsement of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ahead of Israel’s national election, calling him an “outstanding Warrior Prime Minister” and urging voters
to back the longtime US ally.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump praised his partnership with Netanyahu and credited their joint military campaign against Iran with severely weakening Tehran’s military capabilities. He said the two leaders needed to finish what they had started.
“To the people of Israel, to those who haven’t seen it, I am attaching the Endorsement I gave one week ago to your Prime Minister, Bibi Netanyahu,” Trump wrote, adding, “As everyone is aware, including the enemy, Bibi and I have had a great relationship in winning together.”
Trump said the US operation known as Operation Midnight Hammer had prevented Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon, while Operation Epic Fury had left the country’s military and economy in a severely weakened state.
“We did Operation Midnight Hammer, stopping the World’s Number One State Sponsor of Terror from obtaining a Nuclear Weapon,” Trump wrote.
“Then we did Operation Epic Fury, and Iran now has No Navy, No Air Force, and both their Military and Economy are in shambles,” he added.
Trump also claimed that Iran’s inflation rate had reached 301 per cent and that a US naval blockade had crippled its economy. These assertions were made by the president in his post.
“When you go to the Polls please remember that Bibi has been an outstanding Warrior Prime Minister!” Trump said, invoking what he described as the threat posed by Iran to Israel and the United States.
Trump’s latest endorsement came days before Israel’s national election and was his second public show of support for Netanyahu in a week. According to an Axios report, Netanyahu had spoken with Trump twice over the preceding three days, seeking additional public backing before the vote. The report said Netanyahu had suggested language for further endorsements and proposed that Trump speak with Israeli journalists to reinforce his support.
