Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has reportedly been banned by the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE). The decision was announced by the film body on Monday evening amid Ranveer’s ongoing
dispute with filmmaker-actor Farhan Akhtar over Don 3. Farhan had approached the workers’ body following Ranveer’s alleged abrupt exit from the project.
FWICE Issues Non-Cooperation Directive Against Ranveer Singh
FWICE has issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh after Farhan Akhtar raised the matter with the body regarding the Don 3 dispute. Following a meeting held on Monday, the organisation instructed the industry not to collaborate with the actor until he resolves the dispute with the film body over the Rs 45 crore damages demanded by the producers.
FWICE shared a press release which read, “The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) has taken serious cognisance of the complaint forwarded to it by the Indian Film & Television Directors’ Association (IFTDA) concerning actor Ranveer Singh’s alleged last-minute withdrawal from the film project “Don 3”. The complaint was filed by filmmaker Farhan Akhtar before IFTDA on 11th April 2026, following which the matter was officially referred to FWICE for further course of action and appropriate intervention.”
Ranveer Singh Did Not Appear Before FWICE Despite Multiple Requests, Says Federation
The press release further stated that Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani informed FWICE that they have incurred approximately Rs 45 crore towards the pre-production of the film. “After hearing the complainant’s side, FWICE issued multiple communications to Mr. Ranveer Singh requesting him to personally appear before the Federation and present his version of events so that the matter could be examined carefully and a fair, balanced, and just resolution could be arrived at. FWICE issued multiple communications to Mr. Ranveer Singh, including the First Reminder dated 22nd April 2026, the Second Reminder dated 30th April 2026, and the Third Reminder dated 13th May 2026.”
According to the press release, Ranveer stated that FWICE would not be the appropriate forum for the complainants to raise their grievances and further stated that the issues raised were contractual in nature and would require adjudication before the appropriate legal forum.
“FWICE further believes that sudden exits from projects by senior and established actors at crucial stages pose a serious threat to the stability and working ecology of the entertainment industry. FWICE therefore appeals to all producers, producers’ associations, and industry bodies to stand united with the Federation in discouraging and eliminating such unprofessional practices in the larger interest of the Indian film and television industry and all its stakeholders,” read the statement.
What Led To The Dispute Over Don 3?
After the success of Don (2006) and Don 2 (2011), both starring Shah Rukh Khan, Ranveer Singh was announced as the lead for Don 3 in 2023. However, reports of disagreements between Ranveer Singh, Farhan Akhtar, and Excel Entertainment’s Ritesh Sidhwani surfaced in December 2025 after the actor allegedly walked out of the project.
Reports claimed creative differences, including demands for script changes, led to tensions between the actor and the makers. Speculation also circulated about possible replacements, though it was later denied by industry insiders. Farhan Akhtar is now reportedly seeking Rs 40 crore in damages due to the project being in pre-production when the exit happened.
