Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered prayers at the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday as the shrine marked the second anniversary of Ram Lalla’s
Pran Pratishtha. The day also coincided with Pratishtha Dwadashi, a key date in the temple’s religious calendar.
The celebrations marked two years since the idol of Ram Lalla was consecrated on January 22, 2024, in a ceremony led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The event is seen as a major moment in the history of the temple. This year’s anniversary is being observed on December 31, 2025, with several religious programmes organised by the Ram Temple Trust.
PM Modi described the occasion as a divine festival of faith and tradition.

Special rituals were held throughout the day, including Ganapati Puja, Mandal Pujan, vishesh abhishek and Prakatotsav Aarti. Rajnath Singh offered prayers at the temple and later hoisted the flag at the Mata Annapurna Temple. He was joined by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, who addressed devotees at Angad Tila, the exit point of the Ram Temple complex.
Large crowds gathered in Ayodhya for the occasion, with officials estimating that around five to six lakh pilgrims visited the temple. Devotees were seen chanting “Jai Shri Ram” as they waited for darshan. To manage the heavy rush, strict security arrangements were put in place across the city.

Ayodhya was divided into five security zones, with 36 designated parking areas for visitors. Anti-drone systems were deployed, and darshan was organised in phases to ensure smooth movement. VIP passes were suspended until Thursday to reduce crowd pressure and allow more pilgrims to visit the temple safely.
The Trust said the Pran Pratishtha Dwadashi celebrations would continue until Friday. Rituals at the temple complex have been underway since Saturday.
Earlier this year, Prime Minister Modi returned to the temple on November 25 for the Dhwajarohan ceremony, which marked the completion of the Ram Mandir.
