Sonu Nigam explained that his treatment has included regular physiotherapy sessions, which he found particularly painful. Alongside this, he mentioned that he is currently on pain medication as part of his recovery process. “My nerves are pinched. I have been taking MRI and CT scans for a week. I have been taking a lot of medicines,” he said in the video.
He further shared that the medicines prescribed to manage his condition have had side effects, including a noticeable heaviness in his throat—an issue especially significant for a professional vocalist. “Physiotherapy was very painful. I am taking painkillers now. Due to that, my throat is also a little heavy,” he added.
Despite the ongoing discomfort and medical supervision, Sonu confirmed that he went ahead with a scheduled live performance in Mumbai. He noted that it had been a while since he last performed and he was determined not to cancel the show. “13th June, Mumbai,” wrote the singer in the caption.
Pinkie Roshan reacted to the video and wrote, “Get well soon Sonu. Shaktimaan ho aap,” while Roop Kumar Rathod commented, “Duniya ke her ek sangeet premi ki duaein aap ke sath hai .. get well soon . We all are praying Sonu ji.” Alisha Chinai also dropped a message for his quick recovery.
Having started out performing stage shows in the early 1990s, Sonu Nigam made his playback debut in Hindi cinema with the song “O Aasman Wale Zameen Par Utar Ke Dekh” from Aaja Meri Jaan (1993).
Over the course of his career, he has recorded more than 5,000 songs across multiple languages and has received a National Award for the iconic title track of Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003). Sonu has been behind several timeless Bollywood numbers, including “Yeh Dil Deewana” (Pardes, 1997), “Suraj Hua Maddham” (Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, 2001), and “Kal Ho Naa Ho” (2003), among many others.
In recent years, Sonu has remained active with live performances, touring across India for concerts and music shows.
