Morocco, which will co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, has triggered global protest by announcing plans to slaughter up to 3 million stray dogs. As per CNN Sports, the Animal
welfare groups shared that the killings are part of a campaign to “clean up” Morocco’s streets. The country’s attempt to boost their tourism attraction during the prestigious event has sparked significant criticism from several other animal welfare groups and activists.
Now, actress Janhvi Kapoor, who is known to be an animal lover, has called out the authorities for their decision to kill the stray dogs.

Taking to Instagram, the actress shared a post on her stories and expressed her disappointment. She wrote, “This can’t be real. There are ways to address the rehabilitation of stray animals. “Cleaning up” by killing all of them? Criminals.”

Moroccan Authorities’ Inhumane Act
According to a previous report by The Daily Mail, Moroccan authorities are using harsh techniques to control the country’s rising stray dog population. These include the use of highly toxic strychnine to poison dogs, shooting them in public places and allegedly beating the survivors to death with shovels. These cruel practices have sparked outrage from animal rights groups around the world, who are demanding immediate action.
However, an official statement from FIFA is still awaited.
