Five labourers died, and eight others got injured after a speeding car rammed into 13 labourers in Madhya Pradesh’s Jabalpur on Sunday, reported PTI, citing police.
The incident happened at nearly 2 PM
near Ekta Chowk in front of Sigma Colony under Barela police station limits.
The labourers were having lunch at the roadside while working on the installation of road divider railings when the car struck them, Additional Superintendent of Police Pallavi Shukla told PTI.
Speaking about the same, the son of one of the victims said that he received a call saying his mother met with an accident.

She said the driver of the vehicle fled the scene after the accident, and police teams have been launched to trace and arrest him.
“The deceased and the injured persons, who have been admitted to Jabalpur Medical College, hail from Mandla district. One of them is in a critical condition,” Shukla said.
A further probe into the matter is underway.
