A woman has shared her encounter with an auto driver sporting an Indian Institute of Management Bengaluru (IIM-B) jacket. The tale, originally posted on X, went viral in no time. During the ride, the woman,
Apoorva, noticed the prestigious IIM-B logo on the driver’s jacket. The back of the jacket read “IIM Bangalore.”
Curious, she struck up a conversation and discovered that he works full-time in the IIM-B hostel mess, where students had gifted him the jacket as a token of appreciation for his service. Driving an auto, he explained, was something he did on the side to help support his family.
“My auto driver was wearing an IIM-B jacket. Of course, curious me had a little chat with him. He mentioned he works in the IIM-B hostel mess and that the students gifted it to him and also mentioned that auto driving is his part time job,” her post read.

Someone asked, “IIM-B charges lakhs for each of their courses way beyond the fees that a college usually charges.. and yet their help staff have to work double jobs to support their families? We need to know the salary structure and ensure fair payment at least.”

Earlier, a Bengaluru auto driver went viral after a social media user shared a photo of him watching a podcast by entrepreneur and investor Naval Ravikant while driving. The podcast played on a small monitor fixed above the windshield, while his phone helped him navigate the city’s roads. Users praised the driver’s multitasking skills and his productive use of time.
Before that, another auto driver inspired thousands when it was revealed that he was also a professional Table Tennis coach for Karnataka’s state team, taking up driving during the pandemic to make ends meet and promoting his coaching through a poster in his rickshaw.
