With Dhurandhar still enjoying its blockbuster glow, fans have been buzzing with one big question — is the sequel arriving on time or not? Director Aditya Dhar has now put all speculation to rest, clearly
stating that Dhurandhar 2 is very much on track for its planned March release, despite reports suggesting a possible delay.
The spy thriller, led by Ranveer Singh, has emerged as one of the biggest box office successes in recent times, turning Dhar into a fan favourite. As anticipation builds for the second instalment, rumours began doing the rounds that the makers might push the release to avoid a box office clash with Yash’s Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, which is also slated to hit theatres on March 19.
Aditya Dhar, however, chose a simple and direct way to address the chatter — through his Instagram Stories.
The clarification came after a fan, who had watched Dhurandhar multiple times in theatres, tagged the filmmaker and poured out praise for the film. The fan wrote, “I think it is more than a week since I went to watch Dhurandhar for a second time in the theatre and honestly, I am still obsessed with it, and I still feel like watching it again and again… You are truly a GOAT director, can’t wait for Dhurandhar 2! India is blessed to have a director like you!”
Reposting the message, Dhar responded with a clear confirmation, writing, “So sweet! Thanks! See you in cinemas on 19th March!” — effectively shutting down all postponement rumours.
Dhurandhar 2 will once again be helmed by Aditya Dhar and continues the story inspired by real-life geopolitical incidents, including the 1999 IC-814 hijacking, the 2001 Indian Parliament attack and the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. The sequel is expected to explore the backstory of Ranveer Singh’s character Hamza, tracing his journey from Lyari and the final stages of his covert anti-terror mission. The film also stars Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan and Rakesh Bedi, among others.
Sharing the same release date is Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups, a period gangster drama that marks Yash’s return to the big screen after the massive success of KGF: Chapter 2. Directed by Geetu Mohandas, the film features an ensemble cast including Rukmini Vasanth, Nayanthara, Kiara Advani, Tara Sutaria, Huma Qureshi, Akshay Oberoi and Sudev Nair.
