Turkey has reportedly restricted access to multiple social media platforms, including X, YouTube, WhatsApp, TikTok, Facebook and Instagram, on multiple networks ahead of opposition protests in Istanbul,
according to Netblocks, a global internet monitor.
The opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP) called for rallies after police set up barricades in areas around the party’s headquarters in Istanbul, Reuters reported. The access problems to these platforms began at around 8:45 pm GMT (2:15 am IST) with bandwidth being throttled for the platforms, said Turkey’s Freedom of Expression Association.
This is a developing story. More details to be added.
