External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on Monday said it was a “pleasure to be back in Israel” as he expressed India’s deep condolences at the loss of life in the Sydney terror attack, reiterating New
Delhi’s zero-tolerance approach to terrorism.
“We have a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism,” Jaishankar said, underlining India’s firm stance against terror in all its forms as he conveyed solidarity with Israel following the attack.
The External Affairs Minister said the focus of his visit would be on advancing bilateral ties. “Today we will discuss our strategic partnership,” he said, pointing to the importance India places on its relationship with Israel across key sectors.
Jaishankar also highlighted the need to closely assess developments in the region. “I want to listen to you on the regional situation,” he said, indicating that regional security and stability would be central to his discussions.
Thanking his hosts, Jaishankar said, “Thanks for arranging my meeting with your leadership,” as he acknowledged the diplomatic engagements planned during the visit.
He also reiterated New Delhi’s position on the ongoing conflict in Gaza, stating, “India supports the Gaza peace plan,” while emphasising the need for dialogue and efforts aimed at restoring peace and stability in the region.
