In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi wrote, “Students, Gen-Z – I’m here to listen. Ask me anything on Instagram, and I’ll answer as many questions as I can,” while sharing a link to his Instagram Stories where users can submit questions.

PM Modi’s Instagram Push Sparks Youth Outreach
The move comes amid a broader effort by political leaders across party lines to strengthen their connect with Gen Z, particularly through Instagram and youth-centric messaging. Last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged Union ministers to become more active on Instagram, asking them to post Reels and hold interactive sessions to engage with younger audiences, citing the platform’s popularity among youth. The advice came as the Centre faced sustained student protests over the alleged examination paper leak controversy.

The political focus on Gen Z has intensified following the youth-led protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar, where thousands of students and job aspirants demonstrated over alleged examination irregularities. The protests, organised largely through Instagram and other social media platforms, drew widespread participation from young Indians and dominated online conversations.
From ‘Delulu’ To ‘Aura’: Gen Z Slang Enters Parliament
The shift has also been reflected inside Parliament. During the ongoing Monsoon Session, several MPs and ministers have peppered their speeches with internet slang and Gen Z expressions in an apparent attempt to resonate with younger audiences. Clips featuring terms such as “delulu,” “aura,” and other social media catchphrases have gone viral across platforms, underscoring how digital culture has increasingly found its way into political communication.
