Ace Indian batter Virat Kohli on Tuesday admitted that while speaking at a school function is awkward for him, having never done that before, but school is a place where an individual becomes a better
person, as he delivered a powerful message to a bunch of youngsters.
Despite the hectic Indian Premier League 2026 schedule, Kohli took time out to interact with students in Delhi after Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s victory over Delhi Capitals on Monday.
After inaugurating the event, Kohli addressed the students, requesting them to respect their school environment and teachers while staying focused on their goals from an early age.
“I am not used to speaking in schools, so this is going to be a bit awkward for me because I moved away from the school setup long ago for cricket and that is what I am going to talk about,” Kohli said.

“I understand the environment of a school. I have been through the same process and stage that all you kids are a part of right now. And I can just share from my own experience how my focus and priority changed very early on in my life,” Kohli added.
Kohli shared insights from his own journey with the students, saying that he had to be honest with himself when he chose cricket as his calling. He requested them to show the same honesty towards their dreams and pursue them with full commitment.
“I chose sport very early on in my life, but that came from a very honest place. I was very sure that I wanted to go ahead and pursue cricket and I had to be honest with myself, my family and also my teachers to convey to them that this is the path I want to take,” Kohli said.
“Be honest with your dreams, about what you want to do and follow that dream with absolute commitment. Only you will know whether you are being 100% honest or not,” Kohli added.
