The decision is aimed at encouraging cinema and promoting Ladakh as a preferred destination for film shoots. Shot extensively across the region, Dhurandhar showcases Ladakh’s rugged terrain and scenic landscapes, bringing national attention to its cinematic potential.
Officials said the move reflects the Union Territory administration’s support for filmmakers and its broader push to position Ladakh as a major hub for film production. By offering tax exemptions, the government hopes to attract more filmmakers, boost tourism and generate employment opportunities for local communities.
The announcement is also seen as part of Ladakh’s strategy to leverage its unique geography and cultural richness to strengthen the creative economy and expand its footprint in India’s film industry.
