The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will soon introduce the Social Emotional and Ecological Knowledge (SEEK) programme in its civic-run schools in partnership with a social enterprise. The move
aims to help students build emotional intelligence, life skills, and awareness about social and environmental issues, as reported by news agency PTI.
As part of the collaboration, Rangeet, a social enterprise focused on life skills and wellbeing, will gradually implement the SEEK curriculum across BMC’s network of more than 1,100 schools, which together cater to over 3 lakh students in Mumbai, according to a joint statement issued on Tuesday.
“The BMC is committed to building a stronger, future-ready Mumbai, and this begins with our children. Through Rangeet’s SEEK curriculum, we’re enabling our students to develop future-ready skills such as empathy, confidence, critical thinking, digital citizenship, and responsibility. These qualities define strong learners and better Mumbaikars,” said Dr Prachi Jambhekar, Deputy Municipal Commissioner (Education), BMC.
Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and National Curriculum Framework (NCF) 2023, the SEEK programme focuses on nurturing awareness around mental, emotional and physical wellbeing, responsible digital habits, social equity, and climate change.
The initiative is expected to reach over 28,000 students across Mumbai in 2025.
