Director Mohit Suri made big waves in 2025 after he delivered an all-time blockbuster with Saiyaara, featuring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda. The film, backed by Yash Raj Films, went on to impress
the audience with its soulful music, emotionally charged storytelling, and the refreshing chemistry between its lead pair, ultimately emerging as one of the biggest success stories of the year. Soon after, it was reported that Mohit is set to team up with Ranbir Kapoor for a romantic drama. However, the director has now denied the claims, putting an end to the speculations.
Mohit Suri is not teaming up with Ranbir Kapoor
While speaking to Variety India, Mohit denied the reports of him collaborating with Ranbir. However, he said that he is keen on working with him in the future. Suri also said that Ranbir has been following his career since the beginning. The director shared, “Ranbir Kapoor is not in my next film. I genuinely want to work with him and I hope he feels the same way about me. I went to meet him to discuss and intend to work together. Meanwhile, it’s been in news that we are already doing a film together. Ranbir and I know each other as he’s been following my career right from the beginning. He’s one of the few actors and such a great star who appreciates a film like ‘Awaarapan’ even though it flopped, when it was released. He keeps telling me it’s one of my best films.”
Mohit also added how other actors usually speak to him about his highest-grossing film and consider that to be his best work, but Ranbir, instead, discusses one of his flop films.
Mohit, who is known for making films like Aashiqui 2, Malang, Awarapan and Ek Villain, believes that Ranbir has the “depth and layered nuances” that his films need. He further set the record straight by stating, “But no, there is no Ranbir Kapoor in my film, at the moment. I wish there was.”
Meanwhile, Ranbir was last seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal. Next, he has Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part 1 and 2, Vanga’s Animal Park, and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War in the pipeline.
