After Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi claimed that the Narendra Modi-led government would collapse within the next year, the BJP hit back sharply, accusing the Congress and opposition parties of attempting
to destabilise the country.
The remarks drew a strong reaction from Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal, who accused the Congress and opposition bloc of plotting against the country.
“Rahul Gandhi’s statement points towards a major conspiracy by the Congress, along with all opposition parties, and the toolkit gang dreaming of destabilising India, against the country. This is no ordinary statement but a serious plot to spread anarchy in the nation,” Goyal said.
“When Rahul Gandhi and Company realised that they couldn’t remove the dynamic Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji from the hearts of the people and couldn’t defeat the BJP in a direct democratic battle, now they want to incite violence across the country,” he added.
Goyal further alleged that the Congress harboured “hatred” towards India and accused the party of attempting to defame the country and its institutions internationally.
“They harbor so much hatred for India that they can’t even bear to see anything good happening to the nation. Defaming the country, insulting constitutional institutions, and going abroad to appeal to foreign powers to interfere in India’s internal affairs—this reveals what the Congress’s true intentions are?” he said.
“The people of the country are wise. They understand Rahul Gandhi, the opposition, and the toolkit gang working against the nation very well. The public has repeatedly given these people a resounding response. The INDI alliance’s conspiracy to set India ablaze will never succeed,” Goyal added.
‘Not The First Time’
BJP MP Sambit Patra also criticised Rahul Gandhi over his recent remark, accusing the Congress leader of repeatedly making provocative statements against PM Modi.
In a self-made video, Patra said Rahul Gandhi had once again crossed the line with his comments made during a meeting. “The Leader of the Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, has once again made a provocative statement. In a meeting yesterday, Rahul Gandhi said that within the next one year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government will fall,” he said.
The BJP leader also referred to an earlier remark allegedly made by Rahul Gandhi in 2019. “This is not the first time Rahul Gandhi has made such remarks. In 2019 as well, he said that a time would come when people would come out on the streets and beat Prime Minister Modi with sticks,” he said.
Recalling PM Modi’s response to the comment in Parliament, Patra said, “It was said in Parliament, and the Prime Minister responded very calmly, saying that he would do more yoga and pranayama, and that he would strengthen his back if such things were said about him.”
‘Losing His Mind Again’
BJP Leader Pradeep Bhandari also criticised Rahul Gandhi over his remark, claiming that the Congress leader was “losing his mind again”. In a post on X, Bhandari mocked Rahul Gandhi’s remarks and questioned “what exactly Rahul Gandhi is high on after returning from foreign trips”.
Targeting the Congress party’s electoral performance under Gandhi’s leadership, Bhandari said the party had faced “repeated electoral humiliations”, adding that “Congress has lost 99 elections”.
He further alleged that Rahul Gandhi’s statements were disconnected from political reality, saying “the further he goes from India, the more disconnected his remarks become from India’s political reality”.
Bhandari also expressed confidence in the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance’s future prospects, stating that the NDA under Prime Minister Narendra Modi would return to power in 2029 “with a thumping mandate”.
What Did Rahul Gandhi Say?
Speaking at a Congress minority advisory committee meeting, Rahul Gandhi said, “‘Modi government will fall in the next one year’,”. He further claimed that rising economic discontent will be the reason for it.
Meanwhile, Imran Masood emphasised changing the narrative regarding Muslim voting and reaching the community’s achievements of Congress.
