Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday asserted that India faces no immediate threat of an energy shortage despite the ongoing conflict in West Asia, and said the country is fully prepared to tackle
any potential crisis.
The defence minister was speaking at a Sainik Samman Sammelan in poll-bound Kerala, where he also highlighted the Modi government’s approach to national security, defence self-reliance and terrorism.
He added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was actively using his diplomatic skills to safeguard Indian interests in West Asia. “We are closely monitoring the state of affairs in West Asia and are prepared to deal with any situation,” Singh said, assuring that India would do whatever was necessary to protect its citizens living in the region.
भारत किसी भी ऊर्जा संकट… pic.twitter.com/jem5qbcGo1

Turning to security concerns closer to border, the defence minister issued a stern warning to Pakistan, saying that any “misadventure” from across the border would invite an “unprecedented and decisive” response from India. He said that since the NDA government came to power at the Centre, there has been a policy of zero tolerance towards terrorism.
Singh asserted that under PM Modi, national security has been significantly strengthened and the government’s attitude and mode of action had changed. As evidence, he cited ‘Operation Sindoor’ — India’s response to the Pahalgam terror attack of April 2025, which claimed 26 lives.
He further launched a sharp attack on Congress-led UPA governments and alleged that terror attacks were rampant during their tenure and that no effective action was taken against them.
However, the NDA government has curbed terror attacks and taken decisive action against terrorism, Singh added.
