A love story that began inside a jail has now reached the wedding altar after two prisoners, Priya Seth and Hanuman Prasad alias Jack, both serving life sentences in separate murder cases, were granted
parole following orders from the Rajasthan High Court.
The couple has been released on a 15-day parole, which began on Wednesday, after the District Parole Advisory Committee approved their request in compliance with High Court directions. The wedding is being held at Hanuman Prasad’s ancestral home in Barodamev village of Alwar district.
According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, the relationship began at the Sanganer Open Jail in Jaipur, where both inmates were shifted about a year ago from Jaipur Central Jail under the Rajasthan Prisoners Open Air Camp Rules, 1972. Open jails allow selected convicts greater freedom, including opportunities to work, interact with family members and experience a limited version of life outside high-security prisons. It was in this environment that the two came into contact and eventually developed a relationship.
Over the past year, their association deepened, and for several months they reportedly lived together within the open jail premises, akin to a live-in relationship. In November 2025, they decided to formalise their relationship and informed their families. Wedding invitations were printed, following which both applied for parole in December. After their plea reached the Rajasthan High Court, the court, on January 7, directed the District Parole Advisory Committee to take a decision within seven days. Advocate Vishram Prajapati appeared on their behalf.
The committee subsequently approved 15 days of parole, during which the wedding rituals and related ceremonies are being conducted. Both convicts are required to return to prison once the parole period ends.
Priya Seth, 34, is the prime accused in the 2018 murder of Dushyant Sharma in Jaipur. A district court sentenced her to life imprisonment in November 2023. Police investigations revealed that Priya had befriended Dushyant through the dating app Tinder. On May 2, 2018, she allegedly lured him to a flat in Jaipur’s Bajaj Nagar, where her then live-in partner Dikshant Kamra and associate Lakshya Walia were present. The trio allegedly kidnapped Dushyant and demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh from his father, who transferred Rs 3 lakh. Fearing exposure, they strangled Dushyant to death, mutilated his face to conceal his identity, and dumped his body in a suitcase in the hills of Amer. Investigators stated that Priya had targeted affluent young men through dating apps to extort money to sustain an expensive lifestyle and repay debts. Dikshant Kamra is also serving a life sentence in the same case.
Hanuman Prasad, 29, is a convict in one of Alwar’s most brutal murder cases. In October 2017, five members of a family were killed in a single night in the Shivaji Park area of the city. The victims included Banwari Lal Sharma, his three sons, and a nephew. Hanuman was in a relationship with Santosh Sharma, Banwari Lal’s wife, a taekwondo coach. According to the prosecution, the affair led to suspicions within the family, following which Santosh and Hanuman conspired to carry out the killings. In March 2023, a court sentenced both Santosh and Hanuman to life imprisonment. Police recovered the murder weapon, blood-stained clothes and other evidence during the investigation.
Both convicts have now severed ties with their former partners. Hanuman has ended his relationship with Santosh Sharma, while Priya has moved on from Dikshant Kamra.
As per the wedding card, the three-day ceremony commenced with auspicious rituals on January 21, followed by chakh bhat on January 22. The groom’s procession is scheduled for Friday afternoon, with a reception and community feast planned for the evening at Hauli Chowk in Barodamev.
