The Hindi box office has a new record-holder, and it has set off plenty of chatter. Dhurandhar, led by Ranveer Singh, has crossed a major milestone, moving ahead of Pushpa 2: The Rise in Hindi collections
and placing itself at the top of the charts. The film’s run has been steady rather than explosive, but that consistency has now paid off. On Tuesday, Dhurandhar officially went past Pushpa 2’s Hindi-language total, making it the highest-grossing Hindi film so far, based on figures shared by the makers. What the makers announced On Wednesday afternoon, Jio Studios, which produced the film, shared a poster declaring Dhurandhar as India’s highest grossing Hindi film. The poster featured Ranveer Singh in a powerful pose and carried the message, “Thank you India. Ganpati Bappa morya (Hail Lord Ganpati).” The graphic also mentioned that the film’s net domestic collection after 33 days stands at Rs 831 crore. According to these figures, Dhurandhar has now crossed Pushpa 2’s Hindi total of Rs 821 crore, a record that had remained untouched since the Allu Arjun-starrer’s release. According to industry trackers, Dhurandhar’s Hindi collection as of Tuesday is closer to Rs 782 crore. By that count, the film needs around Rs 40 crore more to clearly move past Pushpa 2 on independent trade charts. A new single-language benchmark Beyond the Pushpa 2 comparison, Dhurandhar has also set a fresh record. It now claims the highest collection by any Indian film in a single language. To put that into context, Chhaava earned Rs 601 crore in Hindi, while Jawan collected Rs 586 crore. Other films that crossed the Rs 500 crore mark in Hindi include Stree 2, Gadar 2, Pathaan, Animal and Baahubali 2. Why Dhurandhar’s run stands out What makes the Dhurandhar box office story interesting is not just the numbers, but the film’s staying power. Instead of fading after the first few weeks, it has continued to draw audiences, helping it climb steadily towards record territory.
Set in Pakistan, Dhurandhar follows an Indian spy who infiltrates the Lyari gangs. Directed by Aditya Dhar and based on true incidents, the story unfolds in the early 2000s. The cast includes Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan, alongside Sara Arjun and Rakesh Bedi.
