Bollywood star Saif Ali Khan has once again proved why his effortless humour and honesty make him one of the most entertaining celebrities to interview. Appearing on the new talk show Two Much with Akshay
Kumar, the actor shared hilarious anecdotes from his childhood — including how he once stole money from his father, the late cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi, and why he calls his royal life a “struggle.”
During the candid chat with hosts Twinkle Khanna and Kajol, Saif laughed when Kajol teased him about his privileged childhood. “When Akshay was hustling for tips in Bangkok, Saif was taking money out of his father’s wallet,” Kajol said. Saif admitted, “Because he (my father) wouldn’t notice, but my mother would. She always knew.” Asked why he stole the money, Saif said with a grin, “I wasn’t a very good boy; I was very naughty.”
The actor then added a dose of self-deprecating humour when asked if he used the money for food. “They weren’t feeding me,” Saif joked, making everyone burst into laughter. When Twinkle reminded him that he grew up in palaces, he quipped, “They were unpainted palaces. It was a big struggle. It was tough. It wasn’t air-conditioned.”
The witty exchange offered a peek into Saif’s trademark dry humour — the ability to laugh at his own privilege while still keeping it light and engaging.
Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar shared his contrasting journey, recalling his modest upbringing in Delhi’s Chandni Chowk. Twinkle mentioned visiting his grandmother’s home, describing it as a small 10×10 ft room where 13–14 people lived, to which Akshay corrected her: “It was actually 24.” The actor said despite the crowding, “there wasn’t a single day where we didn’t smile or laugh.”
While Akshay spoke of simplicity, Saif’s tongue-in-cheek tales of “royal struggles” once again showed that the Sacred Games star knows exactly how to blend charm, mischief, and wit in one conversation.
