Abhishek Sharma entered his name in the history books on Sunday, September 21, by becoming the first Indian cricketer to hit six on the first ball of an innings in a T20I match on two different occasions.
The left-handed batter opened the innings for the Men in Blue in the 172-run chase against Pakistan on Sunday in Dubai and smacked Shaheen Shah Afridi for a six on the first ball.
Before his maximum against Shaheen, Abhishek also scored a six on the first ball of India’s innings in the Asia Cup 2025 match against UAE in Dubai on September 10.

A total of four batters have hit a six on the first ball of a T20I match for India, but Abhishek is the only one to do it twice. Interestingly, both of Abhishek’s first-ball sixes have come in the run chase.
Rohit Sharma was the first Indian batter to hit a six on the first ball of an innings. He achieved the feat by smacking spinner Adil Rashid of England during the match played in March 2021 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Yashasvi Jaiswal joined him in the elite list during the India-Zimbabwe T20I match in Harare last year. The left-handed batter scored a maximum on the first ball of the match bowled by Sikandar Raza.
On February 2, 2025, in Mumbai, Sanju Samson also scored a six on the first ball of the match bowled by Jofra Archer.
