If there’s one new address in Kolkata that everyone seems to be name-dropping right now, it’s La Soirée — and no, that’s not accidental hype. Owned by Priyansh Agarwal, this is the city’s first restaurant
designed by Gauri Khan and the moment you step in, you understand why reservations might suddenly be a competitive sport.
The space is pure mood. Think statement chandeliers that immediately draw your eyes upward, warm lighting that flatters everyone at the table and a layout that feels luxurious without trying too hard. It’s elegant, but also inviting. The kind of place where you want to linger, order another drink and cancel whatever plans you had after dinner.
One of La Soirée’s biggest flex is its upper level. The second floor can be booked for private gatherings, and it’s tailor-made for celebrations — friends, family, birthdays or just an excuse to get everyone together in a space that already feels like an event. Gauri Khan’s design language flows seamlessly upstairs too, making it feel exclusive but not closed-off.
Now to the food: the prawns here are an easy standout: buttery, indulgent and so soft they practically melt on your tongue! The sushi is a must-try and is the burrata salad. The menu plays across cuisines, but nothing feels confused or too overdone. The cocktail menu does not feature standard bar staples renamed for flair, instead, the drinks are inventive and pair well with the food. What really works in La Soirée’s favour is that it genuinely has something for everyone. This is a proper multi-cuisine menu where no one at the table feels short-changed — whether you’re in the mood for Asian, Indian, continental comfort or just really good bar food to go with cocktails.
What really seals the deal, though, is the atmosphere. Come for the Gauri Khan design, stay for the food, the cocktails and the feeling that you are exactly where you’re supposed to be that evening.
