Fresh buzz surrounding Rajinikanth’s much-awaited sequel Jailer 2 and Suriya’s upcoming project Vishwanath And Sons has grabbed the attention of fans. According to the latest reports, the release plans
of both films may have undergone significant changes ahead of their theatrical debuts.
Pinkvilla has mentioned that online report suggest that Jailer 2 is now expected to release on September 4, 2026, coinciding with Krishna Jayanthi. Recent reports also suggested that Suriya’s Vishwanath and Sons might also shift from its planned July 2026 release to August. Additionally, Soori starrer Mandadi is also rumored to be eyeing a release during the same period. However, an official announcement is still awaited.
In April, Rajinikanth wrapped up the shoot for his much-awaited film Jailer 2, marking a major milestone for the project. The makers celebrated the occasion with a cake-cutting ceremony that brought together the cast and crew. Photos and videos from the wrap-up celebration have surfaced online. Taking to their Instagram handle, Sun Pictures shared a series of photos featuring celebrating the moment with a cake-cutting ceremony. “Alapparai Kelappurom, Thalaivaru Nerandharam! It’s a wrap for #Jailer2,” read the caption.
Recently, a video from Rajinikanth’s upcoming movie Jailer 2 was leaked online. While the clip is being circulated on social media platforms, the makers have issued a statement urging everyone not to use, share or repost it. “We would like to bring to your attention that a Video clip from the sets of ‘Jailer 2’ is currently being circulated on social media platforms. Our anti-piracy team is actively monitoring the situation and will be taking necessary action to remove such content, including initiating measures against accounts involved in sharing or promoting these clips,” a statement by the production house Sun Pictures read, as quoted by Deccan Herald. “We kindly request members of the media and fans club to refrain from using, sharing, or reposting this video, in order to avoid any potential suspension or restrictions on their accounts. Please note that the production will not be held responsible for any such actions taken or to retrieve the accounts,” it added.
Jailer 2 has triggered huge interest, thanks to the phenomenal reach of the first part of the film, which went on to emerge a huge blockbuster, raking in around Rs 650 crores. Shooting of the second part of the film began in Chennai first. Sun Pictures, the production house producing the action entertainer, had announced that shooting for the film had commenced on March 10 this year.
Suriya’s Vishwanath & Sons
Suriya’s much-awaited project, tentatively known as Suriya46, finally has an official title. The film has been named Vishwanath & Sons, and the makers unveiled an engaging first-look poster along with the announcement that the family drama will hit theatres in July 2026. The poster offers a heartwarming glimpse into the film’s tone. It features Suriya as a devoted caretaker holding a baby close to his chest in a carrier. With a bright smile and gentle expression, the actor appears to step into a nurturing, family-centric role that contrasts with his recent action-heavy outings.
Helmed by Venky Atluri, Vishwanath & Sons promises an emotional narrative built around relationships and purpose. Actress Mamitha Baiju plays a key role in the film and has spoken warmly about her experience working with Suriya.
