The countdown to Ramayana’s promotional campaign officially begins on July 24, 2026, when the makers will unveil the film’s trailer worldwide. The launch event is expected to take place in New Delhi, with director Nitesh Tiwari, producer Namit Malhotra and several members of the cast likely to be in attendance.
Earlier this year, in April, the team unveiled an introductory teaser, Rama, to coincide with Hanuman Jayanti. Running for 2 minutes and 38 seconds, the teaser offered the first glimpse of Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Rama. It, too, was granted a ‘U’ (Universal) certificate by the CBFC.
Ramayana boasts an ensemble cast led by Ranbir as Lord Rama and Sai Pallavi as Sita. Ravie Dubey plays Lakshman, while Yash steps into the role of Ravana and Sunny Deol portrays Lord Hanuman. The film also stars Rakul Preet Singh as Surpanakha and Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra. Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the magnum opus is backed by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios in collaboration with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. The film’s music has been composed by A.R. Rahman and Hans Zimmer.
Planned as a two-part cinematic saga, Ramayana is set for a worldwide IMAX release. The first installment is scheduled to hit theatres during Diwali 2026, followed by the second chapter on Diwali 2027.
