Wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant returns to domestic cricket as captain of Delhi in the upcoming season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. The Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) announced the squad
for the first two matches of the 50-over tournament, also confirming that the likes of Virat Kohli, Ishant Sharma, Harshit Rana, and Navdeep Saini will be available for selection.
“Mr. Rishabh Pant, Mr. Virat Kohli, Mr. Ishant Sharma, and Mr. Navdeep Saini have confirmed their availability and will be part of the team. Mr. Rishabh Pant is appointed as the captain of the team. Mr. Harshit Rana shall join the squad as and when he becomes available,” the association wrote in its official release.
The DDCA has picked
16 players for the first two matches. However, the squad list doesn’t have the names of the 5 Indian players. It’s yet not clear if the likes of Kohli and Pant will feature in the opening phase of the tournament. But their return will definitely boost Delhi’s confidence going into the tournament.
The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced Mumbai’s squad for the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26 on Friday. Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma has been included in the team and will participate in two matches of the upcoming white-ball domestic tournament.
All-rounder Shardul Thakur will lead the Mumbai side in the Vijay Hazare Trophy. However, India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadav and opener Yashasvi Jaiswal have not been included in the squad for the upcoming tournament.
The group stage of the Vijay Hazare Trophy is scheduled from December 24 to January 8, 2026. Mumbai has been placed in Elite Group C, alongside Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Chhattisgarh, Himachal, Maharashtra, Punjab, and Goa, and will play their matches in Jaipur.
