Sunil Grover’s reputation as one of Bollywood’s sharpest mimicry artists isn’t new, but his recent impersonation of Aamir Khan has taken admiration to a whole new level. While audiences were already impressed
by a promotional video for Happy Patel: Khatarnaak Jasoos, a newly released behind-the-scenes clip now reveals just how blown away Aamir himself was by the performance.
The BTS footage captures moments of disbelief, laughter, and genuine amazement as Aamir watches Sunil mirror him with startling precision, not just in appearance, but in behaviour, body language, and instinctive gestures.
‘Ek Dum Similar Lag Raha Hai’: Aamir Reacts to Sunil’s Transformation
The nearly four-minute video opens with a script-reading session, where Aamir Khan and Sunil Grover rehearse lines together. The mood shifts instantly when Sunil enters the set dressed exactly like Aamir, right down to the beard, hairstyle, and overall silhouette.
Aamir’s first reaction says it all. Visibly impressed, he remarks, “Superb look yaar. Iski daadi waadi sab aa gayi hai. Very good. Ek dum similar lag raha hai,” clearly astonished by how uncannily Sunil resembles him.
‘Ab Tum Mujhe Copy Karoge?’: The Banter Begins
Sunil’s transformation is so convincing that Aamir jokingly begins questioning his own look. Turning to his makeup team, he asks whether he should curl his hair slightly to match Sunil’s style. Without missing a beat, Sunil quips, “So you have to copy me now,” triggering laughter on set.
The camaraderie continues as Aamir offers suggestions to director Advait Chandan, who filmed the promo. When asked to pause and observe Sunil’s performance, Aamir jokingly complains about his chess game being interrupted, adding a playful layer to the already lively atmosphere.
The Gestures That Broke Aamir into Laughter
As Aamir watches Sunil perform, it becomes clear that it’s not just the look that’s impressive, but the detailing. Aamir points out how Sunil casually places his leg on the chair while sitting, a habit Aamir himself is known for. “Very good yaar, ye jo paun upar rakha hai, too good,” he says.
The moment that completely cracks Aamir up is when Sunil wipes his tears in the same signature manner Aamir often does. Aamir even suggests adding another familiar gesture, asking Sunil to greet people with a hand placed over his heart. Sunil later remarks that Aamir’s interviews have helped people imitate him so well, to which Aamir responds, “He imitates me from real life, not from films.”
Not the First Time Sunil’s Aamir Impression Has Gone Viral
This isn’t an isolated moment. Sunil Grover’s Aamir Khan mimicry recently went viral on The Great Indian Kapil Show during an episode featuring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday. The sketch left both guests and audiences in splits and quickly began circulating online.
Speaking about that performance later, Aamir openly praised Sunil’s talent, saying he wouldn’t even call it mimicry because of how authentic it felt.
‘I Felt Like I Was Watching Myself’: Aamir’s Praise
In a conversation with Bollywood Hungama, Aamir described Sunil’s performance as priceless. “I wouldn’t even call it mimicry. It was so authentic, I felt like I was watching myself,” he said, adding that he laughed so hard he could barely breathe.
Aamir also made it clear that what stood out was the absence of malice. “There was no mockery in it at all. I must have laughed the loudest,” he added, underscoring the affection and respect behind Sunil Grover’s act.
