The International Cricket Council (ICC) is set to reward the teams that participated in the recently concluded ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka, with a substantial prize pool.
As many as 20 teams entered the tournament hoping to lift the trophy before India stamped their authority with a second successive triumph, becoming the first team in history to win three T20 World Cups. For their efforts, the Suryakumar Yadav-led side will take home a significant cash reward.
The ICC had allocated a total prize pool of USD 11 million (approximately ₹101 crore) for the tournament, with each participating team guaranteed at least USD 112,500 (around ₹1.03 crore).

According to reports, the tournament winners will receive USD 2.34 million (approximately ₹21.5 crore). Meanwhile, runners-up New Zealand national cricket team will take home USD 1.17 million (around ₹10.75 crore).

India Create History
India entered the tournament as title favourites. However, their early performances — despite flashes of strong form — raised some doubts. Their campaign began with a scrappy win over the United States national cricket team before they defeated Namibia national cricket team. Neither performance, however, could be described as dominant.
India then offered a glimpse of their true potential with a convincing victory over the Pakistan national cricket team in Colombo to qualify for the Super 8 stage. The co-hosts won all four of their matches to progress but suffered a heavy defeat to the South Africa national cricket team in their first Super 8 fixture.
The loss left them in a must-win situation against the Zimbabwe national cricket team and the West Indies cricket team. India passed the test to set up a semi-final clash with England cricket team.
The Wankhede Stadium witnessed a run-fest in the semi-final, where India held their nerve for a seven-run victory to enter the final. In the title clash, a complete all-round performance powered them to a massive 96-run win.
