A tragic road accident shook Rampur, Uttar Pradesh, on Sunday when a hay-loaded truck overturned onto a Mahindra Bolero SUV at the busy Pahadi Gate crossing on the Delhi-Nainital Highway (NH 87). The crash
claimed the life of the car’s driver, while the passengers sustained serious injuries. CCTV footage circulating online shows the overloaded truck losing balance and toppling onto the SUV within seconds, leaving the driver no time to react or escape.
In a new video, cranes and JCB machines arrived quickly to lift the truck from the scene. Local residents also assisted the police by removing hay from the crushed vehicle, enabling faster access to the injured. The footage has left viewers shaken and reignited concerns about road safety.
Tragic Accident On Rampur Highway
Firasat Khan, a resident of Gujjar Tola, who was driving the SUV, was found trapped inside the damaged vehicle. His body was later taken out and sent for a postmortem examination. The accident caused heavy traffic on the highway, and vehicles remained stuck for several hours. The truck driver was also injured in the crash and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to the local police.

Aftermath Of The Accident
Sub-Divisional Officer Nagendra Kumar told PTI that the Bolero was not a private car but a vehicle taken on contract by the department. He also said the driver, Firasat Khan, was hired by a contractor. As per the rules, any financial help or compensation will be given either by the contractor or through insurance cover.
Kumar added, “I was transferred to Khod only two days ago and have travelled in the vehicle twice. In that short time, it was clear that the driver was a very decent and responsible person. His death is an irreparable loss.”
Rampur Superintendent of Police Vidyasagar Mishra said the accident caused heavy traffic problems on the highway. Vehicles were stuck for nearly two kilometres, and the jam went on for three hours. Traffic was redirected to other routes while rescue work and road clearing were in progress. After the formal steps were completed, the body of the SUV driver was taken to the district hospital for a postmortem.
Mishra said, “There is no indication of any other person being trapped under the truck, but we are examining all angles. The driver of the truck sustained injuries and was taken to a hospital.”
Police teams from multiple stations, accompanied by senior officers and fire service personnel, arrived promptly at the scene. They coordinated rescue efforts and managed traffic to ensure safety in the area.
