An explosion at the Chennak check-post in Balochistan’s Sibbi has killed one person and injured five others on Thursday, sources told News18. The blast was reportedly caused by a hand grenade.
After the
explosion, police cordoned off the area and began an investigation. Authorities are working to determine the exact cause of the attack, and no group has so far claimed responsibility.
The latest blast comes just days after a series of violent incidents reported across different parts of Balochistan. Just two days ago, the Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) claimed that its fighters had killed ten members of the Pakistani military in multiple attacks carried out in Jhao, Barkhan, Tump and Turbat, according to a report by The Balochistan Post.
In a statement issued to the media, BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch said the group carried out an ambush on a Pakistani military convoy in the Jhao area of Awaran district on December 28. He claimed the attack targeted an army foot patrol, a bomb disposal unit and a vehicle gathered at the same location.
According to the statement, several soldiers were killed and others were injured in the incident.
The BLF also claimed that another attack took place later the same night in the Barkhan district, where a military camp was targeted. The group further said that additional strikes were carried out in Tump and Turbat, including an attack near a navy camp.
Security officials have not independently confirmed the claims made by the BLF.
