Lately, there’s been growing concern about gig workers and the push for 10-minute deliveries. Experts, lawmakers, and citizens worry that such tight deadlines pressure delivery workers into taking risky
shortcuts on busy roads.
Amid this ongoing debate, a video surfaced online that captured the conversation in a dramatic, almost unbelievable way. The clip shows a Blinkit delivery agent using roller skates to navigate traffic.
Blinkit Delivery On Roller Skates In Muzafarnagar
The video, reportedly from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, shows a Blinkit worker clad in the company uniform with a delivery backpack on his back, skating down a busy street. Cars, bikes and other vehicles pass close by as he manoeuvres through the middle of the road.
The video was shared on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption: “We used to curse Muzaffarpur’s traffic for no reason, now we’ve found out why Blinkit folks can’t manage deliveries in Muzaffarpur in 10 minutes.”

Many users raised serious questions about safety and responsibility:
One user tagged Blinkit and asked, “Is it in your knowledge? Do you endorse it, or will any action be taken?”
Another commented, “He should be arrested on charges of spreading unrest.”
Government Steps In To Address Worker Safety
The incident comes at a time when the central government has already been reviewing the safety and working conditions of gig workers. Following public scrutiny, Union Labour Minister Mansukh Mandaviya reportedly met with major delivery platforms, including Blinkit, Zepto, Zomato and Swiggy to address concerns about the aggressive 10-minute delivery targets.
Blinkit has already updated its branding, replacing “10,000+ products delivered in 10 minutes” with “30,000+ products delivered at your doorstep”. Other platforms are expected to follow suit.
The discussion around extreme delivery timelines also reached Parliament, where Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha spoke about the “pain and misery” faced by delivery workers. He emphasised the need for regulations ensuring fair pay, worker dignity and safe working conditions.
On the policy side, the government has taken steps to officially recognise and safeguard gig and platform workers. For the first time, their definition and rights have been included in the Code on Social Security, 2020, which came into effect on November 21, 2025.
Under this Code, gig workers are entitled to social security benefits such as life and disability insurance, accident cover, health and maternity benefits, and old-age protection. It also provides for the establishment of a Social Security Fund and a National Social Security Board to oversee these measures.
