With the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections drawing closer, administrative preparations across districts have gathered considerable momentum. In line with the heightened election activity, authorities
in the Tenkasi district of Tamil Nadu have initiated measures to ensure that logistical arrangements for polling duties proceed without disruption.
As part of these preparations, all government and government-aided schools in the Tenkasi district will remain closed on April 15. The announcement was made due to the large-scale deployment of teachers and government staff for election duties on the same day.
Teachers And Staff To Undergo Poll Duty Training
A significant number of teachers, along with other government personnel, are scheduled to participate in the second phase of election training.
This training is specifically aimed at preparing officials for their roles at polling stations across the district’s five Assembly constituencies. Given the scale of participation required, normal school operations would have been severely affected, prompting the decision to declare a holiday.
Ensuring Smooth Conduct Of Election Work
The move is intended to streamline the election process and avoid any administrative bottlenecks.
By allowing teachers and staff to fully attend the training sessions, district authorities aim to ensure that polling duties are carried out efficiently and in accordance with established guidelines.
Postal Voting Facilities To Be Provided
In addition to training arrangements, special centres will be established at the designated training venues. These centres will enable teachers and other personnel engaged in election duties to cast their postal votes conveniently.
The initiative is designed to facilitate participation in the democratic process without causing inconvenience to those involved in critical election work.
Overall, the coordinated steps reflect the administration’s focus on balancing educational schedules with the demands of conducting free and fair elections.
