Sugar mill waste caused panic in Uttar Pradesh’s Amroha district earlier this week. What looked like a normal route suddenly turned dangerous, leading to a series of accidents. At least 12 bike riders
reportedly slipped and fell after losing control of their vehicles, due to which, more than 20 people suffered minor injuries. Thankfully, no one was seriously hurt.
Reports suggest the road became slippery due to waste from the nearby sugar mill. Farmers usually take this waste to their fields because it is used as natural manure. While transporting it in tractors, some of the material falls on the road. When it rains, the waste mixes with water and makes the road very slippery. Bike riders passing through could not control their vehicles in time, leading to several falls. The incident has raised safety concerns.
Sugar Mill Waste Turns Road Slippery
The video starts with a biker entering the frame at high speed and suddenly slipping on the road. Seeing him fall, two other riders try to brake, but they also lose balance and crash. As the clip continues, more two wheeler riders can be seen skidding and falling one after another. The incident was recorded by a resident who was eating at a nearby restaurant when he noticed several bikers slipping and falling on the road.
The video posted on X (Formerly Twitter) came with the caption, “What an earth is this. 10 motorcycles skid on the road in less than 2 minutes in the Amroha district of Uttar Pradesh. Seemingly normal looking road, riders cruising slowly on their motorcycle – yet lost control and fell as if somebody was casting a spell on the road.”

Police Act Quickly After Video Goes Viral
Soon after the video circulated online, Amroha Police replied, “Due to sugarcane waste lying on the road in front of Blue Birds School, the road became slippery during rainfall. Considering the seriousness of the situation, the Bachhraun police immediately arranged for a tractor and the sugar mill’s fire vehicle to spray water and clean the waste from the road. After the cleaning work was completed, traffic was restored and started moving normally. At present, traffic is running smoothly.”

Residents Demand Permanent Solution
According to Free Press Journal, a fire brigade vehicle from the sugar mill was used to wash the road and remove the waste lying on it. Despite cleaning, people living nearby said this problem keeps happening and needs a permanent solution. They feel that cleaning the road once whenever the issue happens is not enough and steps should be taken to stop the waste from falling on the road.
