Akshay Kumar has confirmed that due to the myriad legal issues that Hera Pheri 3 is embroiled in, the film won’t happen anytime soon. The Bhooth Bangla actor said that he was also shocked to learn about
this development. Fans were excited to see Akshay reunite with Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal in their iconic roles.
Speaking to Shubhankar Mishra, Akshay Kumar said, “Hera Pheri 3 abhi filhaal toh nahi ban rahi… Mujhe khud jhatka laga tha. Koi baat nahi, Welcome bana li. Thoda kuch mantra padhna padega ki sab theek ho jaaye. Abhi ek saal toh nahi hain. Uske bohot saare issues hain, aisa nahi hain ki hum teeno [actors] saath nahi hain.”
Akshay Kumar also mentioned, “Welcome to the Jungle mein hum teeno saath hain. Kuch kuch cheesein hoti hain jo main camera pe nahi bol sakta. Bohot saari cheezein, agreements hain, which takes the project backwards.” Currently, the film is paused due to legal issues surrounding its rights.
Previously, writer Rohan Shankar told News18 that, while he wrote the teaser for Hera Pheri 3 and was supposed to work on the film, he is no longer a part of the project due to legal complications. He told us, “I was in talks, and it was supposed to happen, but it didn’t because of legal issues. Hopefully, if Hera Pheri 3 happens, maybe I will be there too.”
Rohan also explained that director Priyadarshan won’t stop amid Hera Pheri 3’s complications. Rohan said, “He has to do one film, then write another, then shoot it, so he keeps on going. Now, in that structure, when will Hera Pheri happen and when will all of this be solved? If it’s solved quickly, then Priyan sir will do it. I don’t know what is happening there, but Priyan sir won’t stop amid all of this. He might make five films before Hera Pheri even starts.”
For the unversed, just when fans were getting excited about Raju, Shyam and Baburao’s return, Hera Pheri 3 landed in unexpected legal trouble. A producer from the South moved the Madras High Court, questioning whether the much-talked-about film could even be made, after claiming that the rights to the franchise do not belong to producer Firoz Nadiadwala.
