World No. 1 ODI batter Rohit Sharma took a savage dig at the England men’s cricket team on Sunday (December 21). According to Rohit, who scored a century in his last international match (ODI) in Australia
on October 25, 2025, playing in Australia is most difficult, and one can ask England about it. The English team is in Australia these days to take part in the 2025-26 edition of the Ashes series. In the first three Tests of the ongoing five-match series Down Under, England have suffered three back-to-back defeats, and their hopes of winning an Ashes series in Australia ended in just 11 days.
The Poms lost the first two Tests in Perth and Brisbane by 8 wickets each in less than three days, and in the third one, played at Adelaide Oval, Australia defeated them by 82 runs on Sunday afternoon.
Rohit, who is one of the greatest batters of all time, attended an event in Gurugram on Sunday afternoon where, while addressing a gathering of people, he said, “Australia mein khelna sabse difficult hai, aap England ko puch he sakte ho (playing in Australia is the most difficult, you can ask England about it).”

Rohit, who played his last-ever Test match for India in Australia from December 26 to 30, 2024, at Melbourne Cricket Ground, is the only Indian batter to score 1000 ODI runs against the six-time ODI World Cup winners in Australia. But he struggled to make a big impact in red-ball matches played on Australian soil.
Since making his Test debut for India in November 2013 during Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell series, Rohit played 10 matches in Australia but could only manage to score 439 runs in 19 innings. He slammed three Test fifties against the Baggy Greens and got out on a duck once.
In his last Test series for India, Rohit played three Tests in Australia but was only able to score a total of 31 runs in five innings.
4th Ashes Test at MCG
The fourth Test of the ongoing Ashes series between Australia and England will be played from December 26 to 30 at Melbourne Cricket Ground. The hosts have already sealed the series, but they would like to get the better of the Ben Stokes-led side once again and go 4-0 up.
For the Boxing Day Test, Australia could be without the services of Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon. While Lyon is injured, Cummins could be rested as a precautionary measure.
