Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk was reportedly caught up in a shooting incident in Canada shortly after his concert in Abbotsford, British Columbia, on Saturday, September 5. Reportedly, a vehicle linked
to the singer’s convoy was targeted in what police are treating as a potentially targeted shooting. No injuries have been reported so far.
As reported by Voice Online, police said that a vehicle travelling in the 2500-block of McCallum Road was fired upon by occupants of a dark-coloured SUV. Multiple shots were fired at the targeted vehicle. Several reports also claim that around seven gunshots were fired at the vehicle in which Ammy Virk was travelling. The car has been identified in reports as a Rolls-Royce Cullinan, which was reportedly bulletproof. All four people in the car, including famous Punjabi singer, escaped unhurt in this attack.
Meanwhile, if a report by Babushahi Network is to be believed, Virk’s father, Kuljit Singh, has denied firing reports.
Previously, in an interview with CNN-News18, Ammy Virk talked about security of Punjabi artists and why they prefer to keep families away from the limelight. “We are in such a profession where we not only have fans but there might be some other issues too, maybe there is some enmity. Families must not suffer. For now, they can go to the market or wherever, nobody cares. If people get to know, they might be targeted. This is for their security and this is their own will as well,” the Punjabi singer-actor added.
On the work front, Ammy Virk is a popular name in the Punjabi and Hindi film industry. Beyond his acting prowess, he’s also known for his chart-topping songs like ‘Qismat’ and ‘Darya’. He made his Hindi debut with ‘Bhuj: The Pride of India’. The singer-actor was later also seen in ’83’, ‘Bad Newz’ and ‘Khel Khel Mein’. He was most recently seen in Godday Cha 2.
