Dhurandhar 2 actor Ranveer Singh found himself at the centre of a controversy following the Kantara mimicry incident at the IFFI 2025 closing ceremony. Now, it has reportedly been said that the actor,
who is currently enjoying the success of Dhurandhar: The Revenge, will file an affidavit offering an “unconditional apology” for his actions.
As per a report by NDTV, Ranveer Singh is set to file an affidavit offering an “unconditional apology” for his actions at the IFFI (International Film Festival of India) 2025 closing ceremony. The affidavit will reportedly be submitted by Singh to the court on April 10. The actor’s lawyer has also stated that, apart from this, the Dhurandhar star will visit the Chamundi Temple in Mysuru to offer his apology personally.
This came after the complainant’s lawyer, Prashant Methal, criticised Ranveer Singh in the Karnataka High Court for giving only a social media apology in the Kantara controversy. He said the apology felt more formal than genuine, as the actor had not spoken about it publicly. In response, Ranveer’s lawyer said the actor is hurt by the situation and will soon issue a written apology.
About the Kantara controversy
During a session at IFFI, Ranveer broke into an imitation of the popular Chaudi moment from Kantara. He referred to the character as a “female ghost”, crossed his eyes, stuck his tongue out, and added his own “primordial scream”, as Rishab Shetty laughed beside him.
He even joked, “Anybody here want to see me in Kantara 3? Tell this guy,” pointing at Shetty. But the clip hit social media within minutes, and the reaction was far from amused.
Ranveer Singh’s Instagram story
After hours of trolling, Ranveer posted an apology note on his Instagram Stories. He wrote, “My intention was to highlight Rishabh Shetty’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way he did, for which he has my utmost admiration.” Clarifying his stance, Ranveer added, “I have always deeply respected every cultural tradition and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise.”
