After a slower-than-expected start, Alpha managed to pick up some pace at the box office on its second day. While the film recorded better numbers than its opening day, the overall performance remains
below the benchmark usually associated with films from the YRF Spy Universe.
According to trade tracker Sacnilk, the Shiv Rawail directorial earned an estimated ₹11.25 crore net in India on Saturday, its second day in theatres. The collection came from 6,882 shows across the country. The film had opened with ₹9.25 crore net on Friday, taking its total India net collection to ₹17.92 crore after two days.
Although the second-day figures reflect nearly 21% growth over its opening-day earnings, the increase is relatively modest considering Saturday is typically expected to boost collections. Released on 7,534 screens nationwide, Alpha has also received mixed-to-negative reviews since hitting theatres on July 3.
The film’s box office performance also places it at the lower end of the YRF Spy Universe. War 2, starring Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, had collected ₹57.85 crore on its second day from 18,228 shows. Before that, Pathaan, led by Shah Rukh Khan, earned ₹70.50 crore net in India on Day 2 in 2023, while Tiger 3, starring Salman Khan, brought in ₹59.25 crore from 19,646 shows on its second day. Compared to these titles, Alpha has posted the weakest second-day collection in the franchise so far.
Among recent Bollywood releases, however, the film is ahead of Mardaani 3, which collected ₹6.25 crore on its second day from 4,830 shows. Interestingly, Alia Bhatt’s previous theatrical release, Jigra (2024), had earned ₹6.55 crore on Day 2 across 5,859 shows.
Directed by Shiv Rawail, Alpha marks a major milestone for the YRF Spy Universe as its first female-led film. The spy action thriller stars Alia Bhatt and Sharvari in the lead roles, with Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol playing pivotal characters. The film also features a special appearance by Hrithik Roshan, who reprises his popular spy character Kabir from the War franchise.
Alpha expands the YRF Spy Universe, which began with Ek Tha Tiger (2012) and later grew with Tiger Zinda Hai (2017), War (2019), Pathaan (2023), Tiger 3 (2023) and War 2 (2025). Unlike the earlier films, which revolved around male super-spies played by Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan, the latest instalment shifts the spotlight to two female agents.
The film is also notable for Sharvari, who now has two movies running simultaneously in cinemas. Her earlier release, Imtiaz Ali’s Main Vaapas Aaunga, continues its theatrical run, making Alpha her second big-screen release within a month.
