Vande Bharat Express Trains Update: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the country’s second Sleeper Vande Bharat Express on July 17, connecting Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh with Chheharta in Amritsar,
Punjab. The service will be named the Sant Ravidas Express, with the Indian Railways releasing its timetable ahead of the launch.
The Prime Minister will inaugurate the train via video conferencing from Jalandhar. On the same day, he will also inaugurate Jalandhar’s new railway station.
Tri-Weekly Service Announced
According to a letter issued by the Railway Board, the Sleeper Vande Bharat service between Chheharta and Varanasi will operate under train numbers 14624/14623 as the Sant Ravidas Express.
The train will run three days a week.
- Train No 14624 will depart from Chheharta every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday at 2:05 PM.
- Train No 14623 will depart from Varanasi every Thursday, Saturday and Monday at 7:05 PM, reaching Chheharta at 5:10 PM the following day.
Journey Timings
According to a report in Bhaskar, departing from Chheharta at 2:05 PM, the train will reach Amritsar at 2:25 PM, where it will halt for five minutes before continuing its journey. It is scheduled to arrive at Lucknow at 7:30 AM and Varanasi at 12:15 PM the following day.
On the return journey, the Sleeper Vande Bharat will depart Varanasi at 7:05 PM and reach Lucknow at 12:10 AM. It will then arrive at Amritsar at 4:35 PM the next day before terminating at Chheharta at 5:10 PM.
Stoppages Along The Route
The Sant Ravidas Express will stop at the following stations between Varanasi and Chheharta:
- Jaunpur City
- Sultanpur
- Lucknow
- Shahjahanpur
- Bareilly
- Moradabad
- Saharanpur
- Ambala Cantt
- Ludhiana
- Jalandhar City
- Amritsar
The primary maintenance of the train will be carried out at Chheharta station.
The new Sleeper Vande Bharat service is expected to strengthen rail connectivity between Punjab and Uttar Pradesh, while also promoting religious tourism, business travel and family visits between the two states.
