The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet has approved a proposal to rename the Noida International Airport in Jewar as ‘Narendra Modi International Airport, Noida-Jewar’, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced in Lucknow
on Friday.
Making the announcement, Adityanath said the Cabinet was grateful to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the airport, which he described as a major infrastructure project for the state.
He said the airport is expected to become Uttar Pradesh’s largest airport and a major aviation hub in the country in the future.
“The Uttar Pradesh Cabinet is grateful to the Prime Minister for gifting the state the Noida International Airport at Jewar, which will be the largest airport in Uttar Pradesh and is set to become the country’s largest aviation hub in the future.”
“The Cabinet also approves a proposal to name the Noida International Airport ‘Narendra Modi International Airport, Noida-Jewar’,” the Chief Minister said.
Alongside the announcement, Adityanath highlighted infrastructure projects across Uttar Pradesh, including highways, rail connectivity, metro networks and freight corridors.
He said the development of the Noida International Airport would further strengthen the state’s air connectivity.
The Chief Minister said approximately Rs 60,000 crore had been invested in the construction of 42 national highways spanning 2,483 kilometres in the state.
He also cited the completion of the Delhi-Saharanpur-Dehradun Expressway, Delhi-Meerut Expressway and Kanpur-Lucknow Expressway.
Adityanath also referred to the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut Namo Bharat train, describing it as the country’s first high-speed Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS). He said the project had been built at a cost of more than Rs 30,000 crore.
He added that metro rail networks had expanded in Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra, Meerut, Ghaziabad, Noida and Greater Noida.
“With the Noida International Airport at Jewar, Uttar Pradesh is reaching new heights in air connectivity,” he said.
Chief Minister Cites Freight Corridors, Defence And Textile Projects
Adityanath also highlighted other infrastructure and industrial projects that he said were contributing to Uttar Pradesh’s development.
He referred to Dadri as a major junction connecting the Eastern and Western Dedicated Freight Corridors, adding that more than 1,050 kilometres of the corridor passed through the state.
The Chief Minister also cited the development of India’s first multi-modal inland port terminal on National Waterway-1 and a 100-acre freight village in Varanasi.
In the industrial sector, he referred to the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, including the BrahMos missile assembly unit in Lucknow, as well as the PM MITRA Textile Park being developed across 1,000 acres.
The Chief Minister presented these projects as part of the state’s wider infrastructure and connectivity development, with the Jewar airport expected to add another major component to its aviation network.
