Panic spread across parts of Odisha on Thursday after bomb threats were reported at three court complexes in Cuttack, Sambalpur and Deogarh. According to information received by the authorities, the threat claimed
that a bomb had been placed inside a bag at the court premises and warned of an explosion within a short time.
Reports also suggested that judges had received serious threats, raising immediate concern.
Following the threat, the court complex in Cuttack was evacuated as a precaution. Senior police officers, including the Deputy Commissioner of Police, rushed to the spot. Police sources said the threat was sent through an email, which claimed that an explosive device was present inside the court campus.
Security tightened
Security was also tightened at the court complexes in Sambalpur and Deogarh. Police teams were deployed, and thorough checking operations were started to ensure the safety of staff, lawyers and the public.
Sambalpur Superintendent of Police Mukesh Bhamu said that security at the court premises had been strengthened immediately after the information was received. He added that intensive checking was underway and investigations had begun to verify the credibility of the threat.
Authorities said all necessary security arrangements were in place as checks continued at the three locations.
