The residence of a former Andhra Pradesh minister Ambati Rambabu, a senior YSRCP leader, was allegedly attacked on Saturday after clashes broke out between supporters of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and
the Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP).
YSRCP officials alleged that the incident was an attempt to murder Rambabu. According to the party, a large group of alleged TDP supporters gathered outside his residence in Guntur to protest and later resorted to vandalism.
The anger among TDP supporters was triggered by what they termed abusive remarks made by Rambabu against Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. The friction between Rambabu and the TDP had its roots in a hoarding put up by a leader of the ruling party.

The hoarding condemned the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) laddoo ghee adulteration row and targeted former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. Rambabu and the YSRCP objected to this hoarding, which escalated into the attack on Rambabu’s residence.
The enraged mob attacked the residence after Rambabu allegedly made derogatory remarks against CM Naidu and the ruling government. During the incident, the protesters demanded that Rambabu be arrested for his comments targeting the Chief Minister and the government.
According to YSRCP representatives, police personnel at the scene failed to intervene or take any steps to halt the mob’s action. The group forcibly entered the premises and damaged the house, resulting in extensive property destruction. A car parked at the residence was also destroyed during the attack.
While TDP leaders lodged complaints seeking cases against Rambabu, he asserted that he was not afraid of legal action.
Responding strongly to the attack on his house, Rambabu said he would answer all criticism directed at him and clarified that reports had confirmed no animal fat was used in TTD laddus. He alleged that flex banners were put up portraying YSRCP as responsible and said he had respectfully asked for their removal, adding that he had gone to the temple for prayers and not to tear down banners.
