Why Did Taylor Swift Skip This Year’s Grammy Awards?
Although the iconic pop star has attended the Grammys several times over the years, she did not join Sabrina Carpenter, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, and others as Trevor Noah hosted the ceremony for the sixth and final time.
The reason behind Taylor’s absence is simple. She did not release any new music during the 2026 Grammys eligibility period, which ran from August 31, 2024, to August 30, 2025. Instead, she dropped her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, on October 3, making it eligible for nominations at the 2027 Grammys.
Taylor Swift’s Reign at the Grammys
Over the years, Taylor Swift managed to dominate the Grammys. The Opalite singer won over 14 Grammys in total and became the first artist to win Album of the Year four times, earning honour for Fearless, 1989, Folklore, and Midnights.
At the 2025 Grammys, Taylor Swift was nominated for Album of the Year for The Tortured Poets Department but lost to Beyoncé, who won her first award in the category for Cowboy Carter. Taylor’s song Fortnight also received nominations for Record of the Year and Song of the Year.
Taylor was also up for Best Pop Vocal Album, which Sabrina Carpenter won for her album Short n’ Sweet. Lastly, Taylor and Gracie Abrams were nominated for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance but lost to Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars for their hit Die With a Smile.
