Jos Buttler was England’s designated wicketkeeper in the first T20I against India at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street on Wednesday (July 1). During the match, he stumped Harshit Rana in the 19th
over of India’s innings and was also involved in two run-outs.
The stumping of Rana, who was dismissed for a two-ball duck batting at No. 7, off Adil Rashid’s bowling, helped Buttler enter his name in the history books.
The former England captain became only the second wicketkeeper in the world to complete 100 dismissals in T20I internationals. Buttler has played 128 T20Is for England as the designated wicketkeeper and, in 127 innings behind the stumps, has completed 100 dismissals, comprising 80 catches and 20 stumpings.
Only South Africa’s Quinton de Kock has been involved in more dismissals in T20Is than Buttler.

1st T20I abandoned
Abhishek Sharma’s dynamic 59 and skipper Shreyas Iyer’s composed 68 helped India gain a slice of positivity despite their first T20I against England being abandoned due to incessant rain on Wednesday.
Their fifties powered India to a competitive 189 for seven, marking a clear improvement after two underwhelming batting efforts in the recent 0-2 series defeat against Ireland.
England’s chase of 190 never got underway as rain arrived during the innings break and did not relent. The second match of the five-game series is scheduled in Manchester on July 4.
Abhishek joins Rohit in elite list
Abhishek Sharma opened the innings for India in the first T20I of five-match series against England and scored 59 runs at the Riverside Ground in Chester-le-Street.
The left-handed opener from Amritsar faced just 24 balls and smashed six fours and four sixes during his stay at the crease on Wednesday (July 1). With those four maximums, Abhishek took his tally to 102 sixes in T20Is for India, becoming only the fifth Indian batter after Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya to hit 100 or more sixes in the format.
