Shah Rukh Khan enjoys a massive fan following not only in India but across the globe. The King of Bollywood has built an unparalleled connection with audiences over the decades through his iconic performances,
charm, and relatability. From blockbuster films to memorable public appearances, his influence transcends borders, with fans celebrating him in countries far beyond India, making him one of the most recognised and beloved stars worldwide. Recently, Australian Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke revealed that he is a huge Shah Rukh fan. He even went on to name Om Shanti Om as his all-time favourite film.
During his conversation with Pawan Luthra on the Indian Link podcast, Tony Burke expressed his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan. He said, “I am a massive Shah Rukh Khan fan, so let me start with that. And, I love AR Rahman’s soundtracks as well.” Further, when he was asked about his favourite Hindi films, he shared that Chak De! India holds a special place in his heart, as it was shot across Australia, including Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

The minister said, “I am biased, I will take Chak De! India because that was filmed here.” When asked if he rooted for India or Australia in the film’s final match, he responded with a laugh, “No, no, although, I did cheer for India in Lagaan. But (while watching) Chak De! India, I was still going for Australia.” Tony went on to heap praise on Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s Jodhaa Akbar. He called it a “phenomenal film.”
For him, SRK’s Om Shanti Om, helmed by Farah Khan, stood out above all. He added, “The last one I want to mention isn’t just my favourite Bollywood film, it’s in fact my favourite film of all time, which is Om Shanti Om. I think there is a real beauty in the story. But there is a line that is used twice, which I think is one of the most simple and beautiful lines and SRK uses it each time… it’s simple happy endings, if it’s not happy, it’s not the end, the story is not over yet.”
Om Shanti Om marked Deepika Padukone‘s big debut in Bollywood. The film also starred Shreyas Talpade, Arjun Rampal, and Kirron Kher in important roles.
