India on Monday reacted to the International Crimes Tribunal’s (ICT) verdict of death penalty against deposed Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her alleged involvement in crimes against humanity,
saying that it remains committed to the best interests of the people of Bangladesh.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) issued a statement saying that it has noted the verdict delivered by tribunal and underlined New Delhi’s continued commitment to the people of Bangladesh.
“India has noted the verdict announced by the ‘International Crimes Tribunal of Bangladesh’ concerning former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. As a close neighbour, India remains committed to the best interests of the people of Bangladesh, including in peace, democracy, inclusion and stability in that country. We will always engage constructively with all stakeholders to that end,” the MEA said in a statement.
